Boarding Information and Vaccine Requirements
Feeding: You are welcome to bring your pet's own food, and if you do, you will
receive a discount of one dollar per night. Missouri state regulations require
dry or bagged foods and treats to be stored in a sealable container with a tight-fitting lid. Please do not bring food or treats in bags of any sort.
Medications: Our staff is trained to give any medication as prescribed by your veterinarian, whether topical, oral or injectable. State regulations require all prescription or over-the-counter medications and supplements be in their original bottles, blister packs, or other containers, with the pet's name and dosing directions on the container.
Special Needs: If your pet has a special need, please let us know upon scheduling or drop-off. Very young, elderly, or pets on certain medications, or with certain medical issues, will automatically be watched very closely. Please alert us to anything you know of we need to watch for in your pet, such as arthritis, heart abnormalities, or untreated seizures.
Behavioral Issues: Please alert us upon scheduling or check-in of any behavioral issues your pet may have, such as aggression toward people or other dogs, digging, fence climbing, fear of thunder or certain sounds, etc. We can work with most any pet issue, but it is helpful to know if your pet has certain triggers.
Routine: Most pets settle right in after the first day or two; some take longer, and some take to our routines right away, and all of those reactions are normal. We keep everything on a schedule our boarders can count on, and our caring staff remains consistent, so comfort comes naturally (yes, they are just like our human kids!). Outdoor playtime is monitored, and modified according to the weather, and according to each pet's individual needs. If your pet comes with a family member, they can stay together or separately; we will let them play outside together unless you direct us otherwise. The indoor dog quarters are climate controlled, and we furnish soft bedding, dishes, and even food if needed. If you choose not to bring your own food, we will provide Science Diet Sensitive Stomach dry food. More information is available in our blue pamphlet which is handed out at your first visit. If you would like to have this information before you arrive, please contact us. We would be happy to send it to you via e-mail or regular mail.
Required Vaccines for Dogs: Rabies, DHLP-P (annual vaccine) and Bordetella (for canine cough). Please bring an invoice or other printout from your veterinarian's office showing your dog's current Rabies, DHLP-P and Bordetella vaccines. You no longer need to provide a separate Rabies certificate.
Required Vaccines for Cats: Rabies and FVRCP (annual vaccine). Please bring an invoice or other printout from your veterinarian's office showing your cat's current Rabies and FVRCP vaccines. Feline Leukemia is not required but is highly recommended for all cats. You no longer need to provide a separate Rabies certificate.
Keeping your pets current on vaccines is the best way to assure they remain free of common viruses. Of course, no vaccine is 100%, but they are pretty close! We want every pet to have every opportunity to be healthy, and to remain disease-free. We know you want the same for your pets, so please make sure they stay up-to-date according to your veterinarian's records.
If you're not sure about your pet's vaccination status, please call your veterinarian's office, and ask if your pet is current. If not, please have required vaccines updated before dropping your pet off for boarding or grooming. The state of Missouri requires us to keep a copy of these records in your pet's file, or we cannot board them. We will be happy to make copies or take photos to upload of your originals if needed.
Most veterinarians will be happy to print out copies of Rabies certificates and proof of other vaccines for you to pick up. You are welcome to have records e-mailed to kira@kiraspetretreat.com, faxed to us at 417-777-8578 or mail them ahead of time to: 4219 S. 70th Rd., Bolivar, MO 65613.
Thank you for your cooperation!
