Grooming Information and Vaccine Requirements
Kira has more than 34 years of pet health care, boarding and grooming experience. She and her staff bathe and groom all sizes and breeds of dogs, and cats. They are careful, loving and conscientious, and realize that each pet has its own behavior patterns and unique personality which requires patience, care and understanding.
Included in the bathing package are: shampoo and creme rinse (medicated products may be used based on your pet's skin condition), blow-dry, basic brush-out, ear & gland cleaning, and nail trimming & grinding.
The grooming package includes all of the above, plus a comb-out, and professional haircut.
Dematting and deshedding are also offered for an additional fee, based on the time required.
If your pet becomes too stressed by a component of bathing or grooming, we will not perform that component, and we will inform you. Some pets can be difficult to handle, in which case, we may charge an additional fee for the extra time and handling required. If we are unable to groom your pet due to aggression, age, or health issues, we may ask you to speak with your veterinarian before we continue, or we may have to decline the groom for the safety of the groomer or your pet.
Please call Kira's Pet Retreat at 417-777-8578 to request a bathing or grooming estimate or appointment, or use the convenient Request for Services form in the "Request Forms" tab of this website, and we will follow up with you via telephone or e-mail.
Required Vaccines for Dogs: Rabies, DHLP-P (annual vaccine) and Bordetella (for kennel cough). Please bring an invoice or other printout from your veterinarian's office showing your dog's Rabies, DHLP-P and Bordetella vaccines. You no longer need to bring a separate Rabies certificate.
Required Vaccines for Cats: Rabies and FVRCP (annual vaccine)
Feline Leukemia is not required but is highly recommended for all cats.
Please bring an invoice or other printout from your veterinarian's office showing your cat's Rabies and FVRCP vaccines. You no longer need to bring a separate Rabies certificate.
If you're not sure about your pet's vaccination status, please call your veterinarian and ask if your pet is current. If not, please have required vaccines updated before dropping your pet off for boarding or grooming. Please bring these items with you to your first appointment, or you may mail or e-mail the records beforehand. The state of Missouri requires us to keep a copy of these records in your pet's file. We will be happy to make copies or take a photo to upload of your originals if needed.
Most veterinarians will be happy to print out copies of proof of vaccines for you to pick up. You are welcome to e-mail scans or photos of vaccines to kira@kiraspetretreat.com, or mail them ahead of time to:
